On August 5–6, we exhibited at CAFEX, Anacafé’s national coffee congress, as part of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) booth.
Why the IWCA booth specifically
Finca Linda Morena is women-led in production, and IWCA exists to support exactly that within the coffee industry — connecting women producers with each other and with buyers who are actively looking to source from them. Sharing a booth with other IWCA member farms, rather than standing alone, meant more foot traffic and more direct conversations with buyers than we’d likely have drawn on our own.
What CAFEX is
CAFEX is the evolution of Guatemala’s long-running Congreso de la Caficultura — an annual gathering of producers, buyers, and industry players from across the country, covering everything from cupping and processing techniques to the market and sustainability challenges facing Guatemalan coffee right now.
What we took from it
Two days of direct conversations with buyers and fellow producers, side by side with the kind of technical sessions that shape what we try next season. It’s also where a lot of the smaller, practical ideas that show up in how we farm — new techniques, comparing notes with other growers — actually get exchanged in person, not just online.
